UV cold transfer technology application in glass industry

UV cold transfer ----- a very promising technology

UV cold transfer refers to a method of transferring by using an ultraviolet curing adhesive. This technology can be widely used in many industries such as arts and crafts, arts and crafts, decoration, metal painting, photography, signboard licensing, and advertising.

The advantages of UV cold transfer are:

1. Easy and quick operation: No need for any plate making, no mechanical equipment, and it is very easy to transfer any color image printed by inkjet printer to the desired substrate surface. An A4 paper size graphic can be transferred and it takes only a few minutes from plate making to product completion.

2. It can be completely personalized. Because there is no need for any plate making, even if a product is made, it can be transferred.

3. Applicable to a wide range of substrates: Transfer can be carried out on almost any flat panel or product that can be developed into a flat panel, such as glass, ceramics, metal, wood, stone, plastic, etc.

4. There is almost no pixel or color loss during transfer. For any method designed or downloaded online, as long as the inkjet printer can print out the results, almost all cold transfer can be achieved.

5. The surface of the transferred graphic is water-resistant and scratch-resistant. It can reach people's fingernails, metal copper and aluminum that cannot be scratched.

6. The transparent background can be transferred, if it is transferred to transparent glass or plastic, the effect is clear and transparent. When transferred to a gold, silver or other color surface, the background color is fully retained.

7. The transfer area can be as large or small, as small as any tiny pattern printed by the inkjet printer, up to any graphics printed by the inkjet printer. (Currently Epson has printers that can print more than one meter wide.)

UV cold transfer equipment and supplies needed:

1. Computer: General configuration

2. Inkjet printers: such as Epson 830U

3. UV light source for transfer: ultraviolet lamp or high-pressure mercury lamp for general lighting, it can also use natural sunlight without any artificial light source)

4. Printing special transparencies: This film is a two-layer structure, in which one layer is a thick PET (polyester) hard film, and the other is a very thin soft film with water absorption properties to prevent stacking during printing. .

5. UV cold transfer special UV curing glue (such as TU-102, TU-103, TU-107, etc.)

6. UV-curable surface protection (such as UV-100, YK-300, etc.)

7. Scraper or Roller: A rubber scraper or roller for screen printing, or a self-made or eraser phone card, etc. instead.

Typical basic operation method (program):

1. Print the desired graphic on a special transparencies.

2. Apply proper amount of special glue TU-103 to the prepared substrate.

3. Cover the printed film with glue on the glue.

4. Use a rubber scraper to scrape the glue (squeegee) and remove the air bubbles.

5. Place on a 125-watt general lighting high-pressure mercury lamp for 3-5 minutes.

6. Leave the light source, cut off the flash, peel off the PET film (at this time the film has become transparent film, the picture has been transferred to the substrate. (This peeled PET film is carefully saved on the side to be Process use)

7. Once again, apply a small amount of TU-103 gel to the already transferred pattern, cover with a PET film, scrape, cure with light, and peel off the PET film. (The purpose of this layer is to increase the adhesion of surface glue (such as UV-100))

8. Apply UV-100 to the above pattern, slowly tilt the PET film down, let the glue gradually fill the entire screen as the film is lowered, and use the PET film's own gravity to coat the glue evenly. Check for bubbles and try to remove them if there is any.

9. Place on a 125-watt lighting fixture with a high-pressure mercury lamp for 2-4 minutes. take out. Uncover PET film.

10. Grind it with a 600-grit diamond grit, polish it with a polishing pad, and rinse it to the finished product. (This process can be carried out by hand using the corresponding water sandpaper and corresponding polishing equipment)

UV cold transfer cost issue:

A 20cm×30cm area of graphic product was produced by UV cold transfer printing: Film, UV light-cured glue and printing ink were about 3-5 yuan each.

other instructions:

1. The above describes the general UV transfer method. This method is actually a kind of false transfer because it is a soft film printed on the film and the picture is transferred together with the soft film. From the film "transferred" to the desired substrate. If you want to achieve a true sense of transfer, you should use a laser printer to print the text.

2. The degree of surface finish depends on the surface of the PET film. The general PET film can achieve a mirror effect.

3. The curing speed varies depending on the intensity of UV light. Increasing the power of the light source can reduce the curing time to less than one second.

Factors affecting the quality of the final product: the type and quality of the glue, the quality of the film, the surface cleanliness of the substrate, the construction method, whether the curing is complete (illumination time, illumination distance and light intensity), and moisture, etc. may all affect the quality of the final product. Have an impact. Therefore, special suitability tests must be conducted before mass production to determine the best model selection and implementation plan.
