The application of single-cell sequencing technology is a cutting-edge research project focused on and supported by the Beijing Science and Technology Commission ’s Life Science Frontier Technology Special Project. In 2011, the Beijing Science and Technology Commission supported the team of Professor Xie Xiaoliang for the preliminary development of a high-throughput genome sequencer product prototype. Recently, Peking University Third Hospital and Peking University Cancer Hospital have cooperated with Professor Xie Xiaoliang's team, based on MALBAC technology, a new generation of high-throughput sequencer research project based on the development of new application research progress. One of the advances is that the research team of the Reproductive Center of Peking University Third Hospital can single-cell sequencing polar cells to select non-destructively normal embryos for artificial in vitro fertilization. This method is expected to provide a safe, accurate and inexpensive method for embryo screening in clinical practice, greatly improving the success rate of existing IVF technology (from 30% to 60%). The second development is that Peking University Cancer Hospital has used single-cell sequencing to achieve whole-genome and exome sequencing of single tumor cells (CTCs) in peripheral blood of cancer patients. The genomic analysis of CTCs in cancer patients is of great significance for revealing the molecular mechanism of cancer metastasis, and at the same time provides a non-invasive detection method to provide a timely and reliable basis for the evaluation of tumor efficacy, prognosis and individual diagnosis and treatment.
