For the range hood "shunqi"?? Ministry of Construction "residential kitchen and bathroom transformer pressure exhaust system technology" through the ministerial level
On February 20, the "Ministry of Construction Residential Kitchen and Bathroom Transformer Exhaust System Technology" passed a ministerial appraisal. The event was reported by Yang Yang and Cao Ming, with contributions from the Shizhai Kitchen Electric Bathroom Technology Institute, China Real Estate and Housing Research Meeting House Facilities Committee, and Shenyang Construction and Construction College. The research focused on developing a pressure-type exhaust system for residential kitchens and bathrooms, which was recognized by the Ministry of Construction.
This technology involves an integrated exhaust system designed to efficiently remove smoke and moisture from kitchens and bathrooms. It emphasizes energy efficiency, environmental protection, and practicality, using modular and industrialized production methods to enhance performance while reducing energy consumption. The system is suitable for various types of residential buildings, including new and old homes, as well as civil and industrial auxiliary spaces.
According to testing, indoor smoke from accidents contains harmful substances, including potent carcinogens like benzopyrene. Effective ventilation is crucial for improving indoor air quality and protecting residents' health. The variable-pressure exhaust duct system has already received national support and recognition.
At the appraisal meeting, Lin Runquan, head of the research team, explained that the new system is the result of extensive study into toilet and kitchen ventilation. By optimizing design elements such as the guide plate and block-winding mechanism, the system ensures efficient airflow and prevents backdrafts, especially in multi-story buildings where smoke from lower floors can interfere with upper ones.
During the discussion, representatives from the National Household Appliance Testing Center raised concerns about the requirements for range hoods. Lin emphasized that current models are generally functional, but it's essential to avoid sharing exhaust systems between kitchens and bathrooms. Additionally, gas water heater exhaust pipes must not be connected to the same system, and exhaust channels should not be used for solar water heaters or other cross-connections.
Some consumers mistakenly believe that higher power means better suction. However, Lin pointed out that excessive suction can lead to energy waste by removing warm air and requiring re-heating. Energy conservation is now a priority, and the system aims to achieve high performance with minimal power—such as a motor consuming only 90 watts while maintaining adequate ventilation.
In high-rise buildings, the required power for range hoods decreases with height, and it's unnecessary to use more than 50 watts for most units. A special design developed by the Ministry of Construction aims to reduce power consumption to just 90 watts while still meeting ventilation needs.
Lin also noted that some range hoods are not suitable for high floors but work well in low-level homes, depending on their design characteristics. In Japan, all range hoods come with characteristic curves, which provide technical specifications. However, in China, such data is not widely available, and companies often keep them as trade secrets. This lack of transparency can hinder standardization and consumer awareness.
The reporter observed a Dulong range hood displayed at the meeting. According to the engineer, this model, though not yet sold on the market, has been installed in certain northern districts. Its key feature is powerful suction with low energy consumption—capable of lifting a plastic basin filled with water from the top of the hood. Currently, these units are only distributed through real estate projects.
Overall, the new exhaust system represents a significant advancement in residential ventilation, combining innovation with sustainability. It not only improves indoor air quality but also sets a new standard for energy-efficient home design.
