In the printing industry (whether printing paper or iron), the PS plate is used as a transmission medium for offset printing. It is usually an aluminum alloy plate with a thickness of 0.15 to 0.30 mm. The surface is coated with a layer of photosensitive liquid; according to different occasions and Requirements, sizes can be selected or determined by themselves. In the iron printing industry, the printing pattern is transferred to the surface of the iron sheet through the principle of water-ink balance under the appropriate printing pressure by the printing cylinder, rubber cylinder and impression cylinder. The quality of the printing plate depends on the PS version The conditions of the drying process and other influencing factors should be said that the quality of the printing plate is a prerequisite and fundamental for the quality assurance of printed products.

This article only explains and discusses some details that the PS version should pay attention to during the drying process.

The printing process of the PS version can be simply illustrated as three basic links, namely exposure-development-protection.

1. Exposure

Expose the PS plate coated with photosensitive layer on the workbench of the plate-making machine, put the negative film, through the main light and light exposure twice, the pattern on the negative film will show the basic "image" on the PS plate (Note: each model For the exposure conditions of the PS version, it is recommended to use â‘  a iodine gallium lamp with a light source of 3KW â‘¡ a lamp plate with a distance of 1m).

The working procedure of printing is automatic control, but pay attention to the following basic details, mainly including:

1. The position of gripping teeth or bite should meet the technical requirements, and the position of the plate should generally be selected. (1) When the size of the printing plate and the iron sheet are the same, it should be noted that the front of the plate is ≥ 1mm and the cross line should be exposed, and the + word line should be exposed on the left and right sides; The empty position of the remaining iron; customers who have special requirements for the remaining iron should meet the corresponding standard requirements to reserve for printing; (3) When the size of the printing plate exceeds the size of the iron sheet, the original position can be covered with the iron sheet after exposure Expose again to remove excess images. These are special circumstances, and the general version should be consistent with the size of the iron sheet, which is both economical and reasonable and meets the process requirements.

If 0.23 × 712 × 512 / MRT4 tinplate is used for the printing of the crown cover, the core size is 712 × 505mm2. When printing, the front of the plate position can be appropriately 1 ~ 3mm, and the gripper position is left 4 ~ 6mm gap (For this example, refer to Japan Fuji Machinery PRIMEX-F450 printing machine description).

2. Before starting the power supply of the plate-making machine, check whether there are foreign objects such as ruler and plate-repairing knife on the work surface, otherwise the glass frame of the machine will be blasted.

3. After the PS version is placed for size positioning, the vacuum vents on the side of the machine must not be covered.

4. Setting of exposure time: The main exposure time is usually set at 90-100S, and the auxiliary light at 15-20S. (1) The exposure time is too long, the pattern on the PS plate is brittle, and it is easy to fall off and lose some of the network lines, and at the same time, the printing plate has poor durability; (2) If the exposure time is insufficient, if the exposure is insufficient, the pattern color will be light and empty Inaccurate; (3) When the lamp performance deteriorates for a long time, the exposure time can be extended or replaced appropriately.

5. Handling of the PS version: care should be taken not to bend and get "dead marks", otherwise the pattern will be blurred, the ink color is empty, and the coloring is poor. [next]

2. Development

After the development, the exposed PS plate is placed flat in the development tank to fully wet the developer solution. After about 1 minute, the PS plate is removed and placed on the plate washing table to rinse off the dissolved coating on the plate surface, thereby displaying the "image" . When developing, pay attention to the following points:

1. The ratio of developer to water. Generally, when purchasing a PS version, a certain amount of developer is distributed with the version. The ratio of developer to water is preferably carried out according to the description of the use ratio of the original concentrated solution, especially relative to summer.


If the concentration of the developer is too large, the effective dots will be removed, and if the concentration is not enough, the development time will be longer, which will make the plate surface dirty and affect the durability of the PS plate.
2. Control of developing time. In general, about 1 minute after the PS plate is placed in the developer tank (appropriate bubbles will appear on the plate during development). If the development time is too long, the "image" on the layout will be removed, and if the time is not enough, the layout will be dirty.

3. If there are extra spots or images on the surface after development, you can use the revision paste to remove it, and then rinse it with water (during the revision, you can use a brush to dip an appropriate amount of revision paste and apply it to the excess image or spots, and stay for a while. Rinse with water).

4. Developing temperature. It is suitable to be carried out at normal temperature (23 ± 2 ℃). Too high room temperature will make the reproducibility of the plate dots worse; too low temperature will reduce the developing ability.

5. When developing, it should be carried out in the dark and avoid natural light.

Three, protective rubber

After the development, the image and text parts of the surface of the PS plate and the non-image part of the image should be coated with a layer of gum arabic to prevent the printing plate from getting dirty and scratching the plate during printing. Although the work of protecting the plate is simple and easy, but the actual Attention should also be paid to the operation, mainly in the following two aspects:

1. Glue:

(1) After the developed PS plate is cleaned with water, use a rubber scraper or sponge to gently wipe off excess water on the surface to apply glue. When applying, use a cotton towel or sponge that does not depilate. Dip an appropriate amount of protective glue on the layout and wipe it vertically and horizontally, so that it is even and thin. ).

(2) After the glue is rubbed, place the plate on the workbench to dry it (you can use the fan in summer, far infrared in winter, and store it for use. If you have the conditions, you can use the baking machine for better results).

2. Plate cleaning: For repeated use of printing plates, the surface ink can be cleaned with gasoline or ink cleaning agent, plate cleaning paste, etc. after each use to expose the "primary color" and then glued. In addition to paying attention to the above three basic links, the printing work should also understand the daily protection and common knowledge of the school edition.

(1) Proofreading: Proofreading refers to checking and proofreading the negatives according to the original sample on the proofreading table, which mainly includes: ① the size of the draft sample; ② the size of the core; ③ whether the "+" word line and the center line of the layout coincide; ④Whether the graphic network cable is clear; ⑤Whether the back of the negative film is scratched, etc. (if necessary, use opaque adhesive tape or a drawing pen, add a pen, remove the pen to repair the layout).

Note: â‘ The size of the printing plate should be consistent with the size of the iron sheet; â‘¡The layout should have the "+" character system and the center line, which is the basic mark of the standard version; â‘¢The printing plate is usually marked with Y and M. C and K (representing yellow, red, blue, and black) are four basic marks, and there are -10% to 100% network line color bars directly above the layout to show the contrast between the sparseness and density of the network line and the main pattern.

(2) Storage and protection of printing plates: ①Moisture and high temperature should be avoided when storing PS plates. The recommended storage conditions are 10 ℃ ~ 30 ℃, relative humidity is not more than 65%, otherwise the plates are easy to alkalinize and destroy PS plates; Clean and dust-free, prevent direct sunlight; ③ When storing reusable printing plates, pay attention to the face of the plate, and at the same time, it is best to use paper lining to separate; ④ If there are dirty spots, scratches, etc. during printing When the phenomenon occurs, you can stop to apply PS cleaning solution on the plate surface and add a small amount of fountain solution to the water bucket to improve the printing durability of the printing plate and obtain a good printing quality.

In short, as a supplementary work for the printing process preparation, the printing process is relatively simple, but the quality of the printing plate directly affects the quality of the printed product.
