Australian Wolf Blass launches PET bottle packaging wine

The famous Australian brewing company Wolf Blass Wines last week launched a high-end wine named Bilyara Reserve. Particularly noteworthy is the use of a lightweight, shatterproof and environmentally friendly 750ml PET bottle, which is the world's first full-size PET bottle.

The PET bottle used by Wolf Blass retains the functionality and aesthetic appearance of the traditional glass bottle, and the same capacity as the standard 750ml wine bottle. The advantage of this PET bottle is that it is not brittle, and it is also 33% shorter in length than conventional bottles, making it easier to store in refrigerators and cupboards.

Scott Oliver, president of Wolf Blass Wines Canada, said, “The new packaging gives our consumers more choices to taste our wines. This Bilyara Reserve wine offers greater convenience and important environmental benefits ."

Wolf Blass's development of PET bottles was considered to be a response to the environmental protection strategy proposed by LCBO in Canada. In this strategy, the Bureau of Wine Management urges wine suppliers to adopt new packaging methods to reduce pollution.

According to reports, this new 750ml PET bottle can be recycled and used. The empty bottle has only 54 grams and is 85% lighter than traditional glass bottles. PET bottles are generally used in food contact packaging after recycling, resulting in closed recycling. In addition, PET is widely used in commercial and industrial applications, and therefore also increases the demand for PET recycling. As the quality of PET bottles has been reduced a lot, liquor products using PET bottles have great advantages in terms of transport, and the amount of each load can be greatly increased. On the other hand, the fuel used to transport the same amount of alcohol is also relatively reduced, which is another performance of energy conservation and environmental protection.
