Pester Corporation: New Packaging Robot

The highlights of Pester Pac Automation Inc. include two new robotic devices. As an expert in the post-packaging of pharmaceuticals, Pester Corporation is creating a series of new solutions for cosmetics and food packaging. The existing robotic equipment is also suitable for this.

On the PEWO-pack 450 Compact film winding wrapper, the company installed one of the two robots, the Pac robot 3, a pick-and-place dual-axis robot with a capacity of 300 bottles per minute and a payload capacity of 30. In kilograms, six cosmetic bottles can be picked up and rotated and sent to the wrapping machine.

Another Pac robot 4 robot has 3 traditional servo shafts and a linear engine. As a typical packaging equipment for pharmaceutical products and fresh foods, it is placed downstream of a thermoforming machine. The robot has a working pulse speed of 100 cpm and a payload of 800 grams.

Both robots are controlled by an ELAU PacDrive C400 automation controller. In the Pac robot 3 case, the wrapper was also run by the same controller. There is no "black box" robot control hardware with patented software. Instead, control tasks are performed by the IEC 61131-3 compatible function blocks in the ELAU robot software library.
