Researcher Du Ke and his master student Wang Yang of the Institute of Urban Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have developed a new black carbon aerosol observation method (DOM-BC) based on digital camera technology. Black carbon aerosol is a particulate matter with strong light absorption in the atmosphere, which plays an important role in global climate change, haze formation, and human health. It is currently a hot spot pollutant in the field of atmospheric environment research. The study found that the opacity of the particulate filter membrane based on digital camera technology has a characteristic relationship with its black carbon loading. This method is to sample the filter film of the atmospheric aerosol, take a picture of the sample filter film, analyze the digital image of the filter film to obtain the opacity of its particle layer, and then estimate the atmosphere in the sample period according to the calibration characteristic relationship and the sampling time and flow The concentration of black carbon aerosol. This method has the advantages of simple operation, low running cost and fast data analysis. It has the potential to replace traditional thermal and optical black carbon monitoring instruments.
