Technical article of activated carbon strength tester
**Scope of Application:**
This procedure is designed to evaluate the performance characteristics of granular activated carbon and amorphous carbon powder. The test involves a steel cylinder with a rotational speed of 50 ± 2 r/min, ensuring ease of operation. The power supply required is AC 220V.
**Appendix: Operation Steps**
**1. Granular Activated Carbon Testing Procedure:**
1. Take 100g of the sample and place it in the standard sieve with the smallest mesh size used for particle size regulation. Sieve the sample on a vibrating sieve for 5 minutes. Remove the portion retained on the sieve and dry it in a constant temperature oven at 140 ± 10°C until it reaches a constant weight.
2. Measure 50mL of the dried sample, weigh it accurately, and transfer it into a No. 2 steel cylinder. Add 5 steel balls, secure the lid, and start the instrument. Record the time and allow the cylinder to rotate for 5 ± 0.08 minutes.
3. After the rotation, remove the steel cylinder, open the lid, and carefully pour out the steel balls. Transfer the sample back to the original standard sieve and sieve it again on the vibrating sieve for 5 minutes.
4. Collect the sample that remains on the sieve and measure its mass.
**2. Amorphous Carbon Powder Testing Procedure:**
1. Take 100g of the sample and place it in the standard sieve with the smallest mesh size for particle size regulation. Sieve the sample on a vibrating sieve for 5 minutes. Retain the portion on the sieve and dry it in a constant temperature oven at 140 ± 10°C until it reaches a constant weight.
2. Measure 50mL of the dried sample, weigh it, and place it into a No. 1 steel cylinder. Add 10 steel balls, close the lid, and start the machine. Record the time and run the cylinder for 5 ± 0.08 minutes.
3. After the process, remove the steel cylinder.
4. Open the lid, pour out the steel balls, and transfer the sample to the original standard sieve. Sieve it again on the vibrating sieve for 5 minutes.
5. Collect the remaining sample on the sieve and record its mass.
