Kate Moss, the iconic supermodel, has taken a bold step into the world of interior design with her new project titled “The Beginning of Kate Moss in Interior Design.†Known for her influence in fashion and culture, she's now expanding her creative horizons. While she has previously collaborated on fashion collections for Topshop and inspired numerous designers, this marks her first venture into home design.
Her debut project is The Barnhouse, a stunning five-bedroom country house nestled in the Cotswolds. This unique property was designed in collaboration with John Hitchcox, chairman of YOO, a design company co-founded by French designer Philippe Starck. Their friendship began through a shared love of the English countryside and local pubs. “When he told me about the Barnhouse in the middle of the silver birch wood, I was intrigued and excited to become part of the design team,†said Kate. Together, they created a luxurious retreat in the woods, perfect for family and friends to gather and relax.
The architectural design of The Barnhouse features brick and wood cladding, large glazing, a gabled roof, and a spacious raised deck with a private swimming pool. Inside, the layout centers around a double-height living area, with an open-plan kitchen on one side. One of the standout spaces is the master bedroom, which boasts a thick grey plush carpet and a mirrored four-poster bed.
Bespoke furniture was crafted by local artisan David Haddock, who also built Kate’s London dressing room. The furnishings include a dining table with matching benches, a steel four-poster bed, and a TV cabinet featuring a silver thunderbolt—a tribute to pop icon David Bowie. The overall aesthetic blends rustic charm with modern elegance, creating a warm and inviting space.
Complementing its serene rural setting, the interior features an earthy color palette, floor-to-ceiling windows, and glass doors that lead to a deck, swimming pool, and the surrounding 650-acre woodland estate. It’s a perfect blend of nature and design, offering both beauty and comfort.
